West Des Moines Named Google's 'eCity of Iowa'
Google will recognize the city's innovative businesses by holding a community celebration with Mayor Steve Gaer, local leaders and business executives at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 15 at Sticks in West Glen.

West Des Moines has been named the 2013 “eCity of Iowa," according to a news release from the West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce.
The eCity Awards recognize the strongest online business community in each state – the digital capitals of America. These cities’ businesses are embracing the web to find new customers, connect with existing clients and fuel their local economies.
West Des Moines joins the ranks of America’s leading cities in the digital economy. Google will recognize the city’s innovative businesses by holding a community celebration with Mayor Steve Gaer, local leaders and business executives at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 15 at Sticks in West Glen in West Des Moines.

Also on hand will be Google representative Chris Russell, West Des Moines City Council members, Sticks President Rachel Eubank and West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce President Chris Voggesser.
Local partners include the West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce, the West Des Moines Development Connection and the Greater Des Moines Partnership.
