West Des Moines Parks & Rec's Yoga on the Lawn Starts Sunday

Sunday outdoor yoga sessions are back this summer.

What’s the best way to wake up on a Sunday morning? Answers may vary, but if you’re looking to connect your spirit with the Earth, the West Des Moines Parks and Recreation Department has the answer: Yoga on the Lawn.

The program is back by popular demand, beginning Sunday at 9 a.m. and continuing weekly throughout the summer, until Sept. 2. Yoga on the Lawn is held on the West Des Moines City Hall lawn at 4200 Mills Civic Pkwy., against the scenic backdrop of the lakes and trails of the city/school campus.

Instructors from throughout the metro area will teach simple moves during the free program.

West Des Moines Superintendent of Recreation Todd Seaman said the class provide a great opportunity for people new to yoga to give it a try, as well as seasoned yogis. There’s no need to pre-register and participants should bring a yoga mat and water bottle.
