West Des Moines Police Arrest Couple After She’s Allegedly Found Laying on Freeway

The husband said taking the cab was "the right thing," but the cab driver had issues with their reported behavior.

West Des Moines police reportedly found a Waukee woman laying on Interstate 235 early Thanksgiving morning after a cab driver allegedly ejected her and her husband from his vehicle after their fight in the back seat resulted in him being hit.

Officer Jeremy Kemmer was dispatched to the 200 block of Interstate 235 to assist his colleague, Officer Anthony Giampolo, who reportedly found a woman laying in the roadway.

The cab driver alleged the female half of the couple began to physically fight her husband in the back seat, then punched him in the back of the head. He stopped the cab and called police. He said he didn’t want to press charges, according to the report, but apparently didn’t want to deal with the pair, either.

The couple – Ryan Scott McComick, 32, and Tiffany Amber McCormick, 31, both of 155 Pleasant View Drive, Waukee – were both charged with public intoxication and booked at the Polk County Jail.

According to Kemmer’s report, Ryan McCormick admitted to being drunk and said “he had done the right thing taking a cab home.”

“He said he got out of the cab due to his wife fighting with him,” Kemmer wrote.
