West Des Moines Police Investigate Pair of Friday the 13th Bad Luck Stories
A bank customer and a grocery store manager had some bad luck on Friday the 13th.

Superstitious? investigated a pair of incidents that went a long way toward ruining some people’s days on Friday, the 13th of July.
Bad luck story No. 1: Hy-Vee Grocery, 1700 Valley West Drive, reported the wheels were stolen right off a delivery van as it was parked near the west side of the store. Hy-Vee Manager Renae Stifel told police she learned about 5:15 a.m. that the wheels had been stolen and that the van was propped up on short logs. Two lug nuts were left behind by the police.
Bad luck story No. 2: Officer Nicole Stevens took report from a 27-year-old Clive man who suspects another customer of US Bank, 3738 Westown Parkway, may have stolen his driver’s license on July 5 after he accidentally left it in the container in the drive-up service lane. He drove away after making the transaction. When he discovered his license missing, he returned to the bank, but it wasn’t there. The man thinks that whoever took it accessed his online Paypal account and made a $28 transaction. One of his security questions on the account was his last 4 digits of his dl number, he said.
