West Des Moines Police Investigate Theft of $53,000 in Heavy Equipment from Job Site
When workers reported to work after Thanksgiving, their equipment was gone.

A Pella construction company with crews working in the vicinity of 50th Street and E.P. True Parkway reported the theft of $53,000 in heavy equipment sometime over the Thanksgiving holiday, according to a report on file at the West Des Moines Police Department.
The contractor, Marvin Walker of TK Concrete in Pella, had been working at the Dahl’s Foods store and had parked the equipment in the southeast corner of the parking lot.
Among the items stolen were a flatbed trailer valued at $26,500, a walk-behind concrete saw worth $20,000, another flatbed trailer valued at $5,000, and a plastic water tank and equipment worth $1,500.
Sgt. Ed Harvey is investigating the case. The value of the equipment elevates possible charges to first-degree theft, a Class C felony punishable by a fine of up to $10,000 and up to 10 years in prison.
