UPDATE: Alleged Robber to Clerk: 'Don't Leave; Someone's Waiting Outside for You'

A man who walked into a West Des Moines dry cleaner early Monday morning reportedly took a cordless phone from the hands of a clerk, who was alone in the building, put it in his pocket and warned her: “Don’t leave. Someone’s waiting outside for you.”

The clerk was talking on the phone when the unarmed suspect entered
Victoria Cleaners, 900 Grand Ave., and demanded money, according to a report on file at the West Des Moines Police Department and demanded cash.

He reportedly got away with about $181.
More details have been added to the description of the suspect, who was wearing a black mask and sunglasses. Witnesses said they believe he is caucasian and about 5 feet, 2 inches tall.
After the suspect left the cleaner’s, the clerk locked the door, emailed her superiors and then went to a nearby business to call police. Other witnesses said they thought the suspect left the area in a white vehicle.

A unarmed man got away with an undisclosed amount of money this morning when he walked into Victoria Cleaners, 900 Grand Ave., and demanded money, West Des Moines Police said in a statement.
The robbery occurred about 7:30 a.m.
After getting the money, the suspect left the store, got into a white or light-colored vehicle and was last seen headed southbound on Eighth Street.
Witnesses did not see the suspect’s face, as he was wearing a black mask and sunglasses, according to the statement. He was wearing a black coat.
