West Des Moines Police: OfficeMax Worker Allegedly Gave Herself a Raise

Internal audit at office supply store revealed discrepancy.

arrested a former employee of , 2900 University Ave., last week and charged her with second-degree theft after an internal audit showed she had allegedly helped herself to more than $5,335.

Debra Pullins, a field loss prevention manager for the office supply business, told Officer Jeff Logan that her May 24 audit revealed that between August 2011 and May 16, more than 80 fraudulent cash payouts had been made.

According to the police report, the former employee – Debra Lynn Killam, 23, 1842 N.W. 82nd St., Urbandale – allegedly signed a statement admitting to the theft.

She was booked and taken to the Polk County Jail.
