West Des Moines Police Release Identity of Woman Killed in Friday Rush-Hour Crash on Interstate 235

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

Authorities have released the identity of a woman killed in an afternoon rush-hour crash on Interstate 235 Friday. Nu Po, a passenger in one of the two vehicles involved in the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim, 52, was from Dumas, Texas.

West Des Moines Police Spokesman Lt. Jim Barrett said the initial investigation indicates that both vehicles, a Pontiac G6 with four occupants and a Ford van with one occupant, were traveling southbound on I-80/35 when the two vehicles collided near mile marker 124 near the University Avenue bridge. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

The victim was a passenger in the Pontiac. The three other occupants were injured and taken to the hospital. The driver of the Ford van was also injured and taken to a hospital, police said.

No information is available about the condition of the others involved in the accident.
