UPDATE: West Des Moines Burglary Suspect Arrested in Clive

The police department on Tuesday issued a news release saying Nicholas Clausi was wanted on burglary and theft charges. He was arrested Wednesday afternoon in Clive and faces additional charges.

A man sought by West Des Moines police as a suspect in two burglaries was arrested in Clive Wednesday and faces a slew of new charges.

Nicholas Clausi, 23, was sought by police for two burglaries and a theft charge. According to the Des Moines Register, on Wednesday a suspicious clerk called police about Clausi. He allegedly ran from officers through yards, entered a house and was then arrested by police.

The West Des Moines Police Department is asking the public for help in locating a burglary and theft suspect, according to a news release issued Tuesday morning.

Nicholas David Clausi, 23, address unknown, is wanted on charges of second- and third-degree burglary, as well as third-degree theft.

Lt. Jim Barrett with the police department said Clausi is sought for two break-ins this winter. The first case happened on Dec. 18, when authorities believe he broke into an apartment in the 2400 block of E.P. True Parkway, stealing clothes and gift cards.

The second break-in happened on Jan. 3 at a house in the 1200 block of 33rd Street. Barrett said the residents returned home in the afternoon and believed a burglar was still inside their house.

He said residents should not approach Clausi if they see him, but should instead contact their local law enforcement agency immediately. 

Clausi is described as a white man, about 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 190 pounds with brown hair and green eyes.
