West Des Moines Schools Name New Jordan Creek Elementary Principal

A news release from West Des Moines Community Schools:

 The West Des Moines Community School district has named Graham Jones as principal of Jordan Creek Elementary, with duties beginning July 1, 2012.

“Graham has the talent and vision to lead Jordan Creek Elementary School in the future and gain even greater success for all our students,” West Des Moines Community Schools Associate Superintendent of Human Resources Lisa Remy said.

Jones began his career in West Des Moines as a sixth-grade teacher at Western Hills Elementary. At the end of his first year in the district, he moved to Jordan Creek as a sixth-grade teacher.

In the fall of 2008, he was selected to serve as the assistant principal at Jordan Creek and Westridge Elementary. For the last two years, he has been serving as a director of curriculum and assistant principal at Jordan Creek Elementary. 

Jones earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa in elementary education with an endorsement in social studies. He then received hismMaster’s degree from Iowa State University in educational administration. 

Current Jordan Creek Elementary Principal Nancy Moorhead is retiring after 13 years in the district.
