UPDATE: Police Make Arrest in Stabbing Near Strip Club in West Des Moines

 have arrested a 28-year-old West Des Moines man in connection with a stabbing early Monday morning at a residence in the Clearwater Beach area at 6220 Raccoon River Drive.

The suspect, Alex Edward Currie, was charged with willful injury, a Class C felony, and is being held at the Dallas County Jail in Adel.

The victim, Nathan Alan Parkison, 23, of Van Meter had been stabbed and suffered a severe laceration to his throat, Police Lt. Jim Barrett said. Investigators are still trying to determine what prompted the altercation, Barrett said.

Authorities were called to a mobile home on the property occupied by , a gentleman’s club, at 3:30 a.m. They haven’t determined yet if the man’s injury was related to anything occurring at the strip club.

Barrett said several other people were at the mobile home at the time of the stabbing, but he could not provide further details until he speaks with investigators.

The man was taken by to an area hospital, where he underwent surgery earlier Monday morning. Barrett said he does not know the victim's condition.
