West Des Moines to Celebrate Earth Day on Sunday in Valley Junction
Sunday's events include a 5K run/walk, activities for kids, live music and food. The fun starts at 10 a.m. and runs to 3 p.m. along Fifth Street.
The seventh annual Earth Day in the Junction Celebration runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Sunday in the area of West Des Moines.
This celebration of Earth Day includes a 5K run/walk, a diverse group of exhibitors, children’s activities, demonstrations, live music and food.

Join the city's Striving After Sustainable Solutions team at Earth Day in the Junction from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday on Fifth Street.

The city will have a booth located in front of Historic City Hall at 137 Fifth St. that will feature displays on energy efficiency upgrades being made to city facilities, native plantings with free seed packets, and a demonstration of a bike trail app being developed for smart phones anticipated to be available this summer.
Come join the city in Valley Junction for all the booths, activities, and fun while learning about sustainable practices.
Mother Nature should cooperate with the planned events. The National Weather Service predicts Sunday will be mostly sunny with a high near 65 and a light wind from the north/northwest.
