West Des Moines United Methodist Church to Host a Community Concert and Barbecue on June 12

The West Des Moines United Methodist Church (WDMUCM) invites the community to a concert, barbecue and silent auction on Wednesday, June 12 from 6.30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The event will be held in the east parking lot of the church, located at 720 Grand Avenue in West Des Moines. Entertainment will be provided by Hot Tamale & the Red Hots, a local blues band that is donating its time and talent for this fun community event. The menu will include BBQ pork sandwiches, hot dogs, chips, beverages, cotton candy, popcorn and snow cones. Cost is $10 for the meal; and a free will offering will also be collected. The silent auction will offer many items for bid, including a photography session and prints, handmade quilt, gift baskets and more. All proceeds from the evening will support the church’s upcoming mission trip to Costa Rica in 2014, says Dr. Wesley S.K. Daniel, Lead Pastor at the West Des Moines United Methodist Church. Members of WDMUMC will visit and work directly with Strong Missions, a feeding program for children in Costa Rica. “Christ commissions his disciples to take the gospel message of his love to the ends of the earth. We are responding to this call and plan to share God's powerful love with the people of Costa Rica,” explains Dr. Daniel. “Please join us for an evening of music, great food and fellowship – all to support a wonderful cause.
