Absentee ballots must be postmarked by midnight Monday, Feb. 11, according to the Polk County Auditor’s web site. They must be received by noon Feb. 13.
The vacancy occurred when now state Sen. Charles Schneider was elected to the Iowa Senate in December. That special election was called to fill the Senate District 22 position after the results of the November general election were declared moot. Schneider replaced the late Sen. Pat Ward on the Republican ballot. She died in October, too late for her name to be removed from the ballot.
