West Des Moines, Waukee to Tackle Intersection of Alice's Road and 105th Street in 2013
The biggest road project in the West Des Moines city capital improvement plan for the coming fiscal year is constructing the interchange of Alice's Road and 105th Street as Waukee extends Alice's Road.

West Des Moines officials will hold a public hearing later this month on whether to borrow up to $9.1 million in bonds for road and trail projects, the Des Moines Register reports.
Waukee and West Des Moines will split the cost of the Interstate Highway 80 interchange at 105th Street in West Des Moines and Alice’s Road in Waukee. Then Waukee will pay to extend Alice’s Road as six lanes of street and install storm sewers, water mains, and three lanes of paved road.

West Des Moines anticipates it will spend about $10 million on the project, the Register said.

The city also plans to borrow $550,000 next year to design a reconstruction plan for Grand Avenue between Raccoon River Park and South 35th Street, the Register said.
Other projects the city plans to pursue next year include the purchase of pump drive equipment at Valley View Aquatic Center, construction of a basketball court at Huston Ridge Park, park landscaping, furniture and signage, park shelter renovations, construction of tennis courts at Wild Rose and Peony parks, and numerous trail extensions and renovations.

According to the City of Waukee's website, the Alice's Road Corridor which when completed, will open up approximately 1,300 acres to immediate development for commercial and professional office opportunities. The City of Waukee is in the process of creating a detailed master plan for the Alice's Road Corridor. The City has hired the consulting firm of Hoisington Koegler Group Inc. to facilitate the planning process for the master plan. In 2004, the City of Waukee prepared a general master plan outlining a vision for development along the proposed Alice's Road extension between University Avenue and Interstate 80. This master plan project is intended to expand upon previous planning efforts and take planning to the next level of detail.
