What in West Des Moines is Worth $34.25 Million?

Building permits for nearly $34.25 million in construction were issued in West Des Moines during June, most of it for residential development.

Some highlights from the report:

  • Most of the growth will occur in residential development in Dallas County, where a total of 76 permits representing a combined value of $27,251,779 were issued.
  • The largest single building permit was for $15.5 million for the Waukee school district’s new Woodland Hills Elementary School.
  • Two commercial permits were issued in Dallas County, including one to Verizon Wireless for $110,00 for new construction at 1250 Jordan Creek Parkway. General Growth Property received a permit for $146,000 for changes to be made at Jordan Creek Town Center, 101 Jordan Creek Parkway.
  • Of the permits, 68 were for properties in Polk County. They represent nearly $7 million in residential growth. 
  • Only two of the Polk County permits were for new construction. Both are for commercial purposes, one a $2.5 million project at 105 Grand Ave. by a yet-to-be determined developer, and another at 125 Grand Ave. for $1.1 million by Breiholz Construction.
