Woman Reports Stepping Out of Shower to See ‘Peeping Tom’
Tracks in the freshly fallen snow indicated to police that the same person walked up to several windows of a West Des Moines apartment complex.

Judging from the tracks they found in fresh snow last week, West Des Moines police think a “heavyset to fat” man looked into at least five windows at an apartment complex before being scared away by a tenant who had just stepped out of the shower.
The reporting party, a 23-year-old woman, said that she had just gotten out of the shower about 7 a.m. on March 12 and opened the shade in time to see the man turn away and run from the building, according to a report from Eric C. Donielson, an officer with the West Des Moines Police Department’s Special Operations Unit.

The woman told police she didn't have her glasses on, so she was unable to provide much of a description other than he was "heavyset to fat" and was dressed in black.
The apartment complex is located in the 6200 block of E.P. True Parkway and five of the buildings are backed by a recreational trail.

When police inspected the property, they saw footprints made by the same boot leading to five residential windows that appeared to have been made that morning, according to Donielson’s report.
