World Champion Robotics Team to Get Key to the City
Next, Beta is headed to Sydney, Australia, to participated in Asia-Pacific Invitational, July 4-6.

Members of West Des Moines Community Schools’ world-championship robotics team will receive a key to the city tonight from city officials.
The ceremonial key presentation comes after the team, which calls itself Beta,won the FIRST Tech Challenge world championships, takes place at 5:30 p.m. during the West Des Moines City Council meeting.
The team will demonstrate their robot at the meeting.

The team has been invited to the Asia-Pacific Invitational in Sydney, Australia, July 4-6. Only 24 FTC teams representing 15 countries are invited to participate in this international event, according to a new release from the school district.
Beta will be leading a workshop for participants as well as sharing documents and manuals to support other teams and communities to develop FTC programs. In addition to an action-packed competition, this event will provide the opportunity for teams to collaborate across international borders to develop relationships, to share knowledge and resources to continue to develop STEM opportunities for young people around the world.
