• Niehues, Panthers golf take first place at Clay Center (bladeempire.com) — Clay Center hosted a girls golf meet where the Concordia High School Panthers dominated, winning both the team title and individual medalist honors with Mya Niehues shooting a 66. Several teammates posted season-best finishes, and the squad later competed at the Buhler Invite in Hesston. Local fans can take pride in strong regional play on a course right in Clay Center.
   

• Esther Elizabeth Lahodny (bladeempire.com) — Clay Center readers are remembering Esther Elizabeth Lahodny, a longtime farm wife who lived near Clay Center and whose son Steve and family still reside in town. She spent decades supporting custom harvest crews, enjoyed crafts and puzzles, and leaves a large extended family. Her funeral is set for Saturday, October 3, in Belleville, with burial at Brantford and memorials to the O'Connor Animal Shelter.
