• Why ICE Is Becoming a Midterm Problem for Republicans: What Kansas, Maine and a 53% Poll Reveal (latintimes.com) — Garden City is one of three southwest Kansas cities where recent ICE operations disrupted schools, local businesses, and major beef plants that normally process thousands of cattle a day. The fallout has Kansas Republican senators pressing ICE for better coordination, as national polls show immigration enforcement becoming a political liability ahead of the midterms.
• Sticker Shock: Trump's ICE Machine Draws Fire From Ranchers and Home Builders (americasvoice.org) — Meatpacking plants in Garden City, Dodge City, and Liberal have briefly shut down or sent cattle back to feedlots because of aggressive ICE operations, adding pressure to already high beef prices. Kansas ranchers and national industry groups warn that mass deportations are disrupting the beef supply chain and construction workforce, and they're urging federal officials to coordinate better with local communities.
