• Lady Spartans see six match win streak snapped at Manhattan Triangular (kansascity.com) — Local volleyball fans can look forward to the Centennial League Tournament coming to Junction City on October 3, where the Lady Spartans hope to rebound from two tough losses at the Manhattan triangular. After a six-match win streak was snapped by Manhattan and Hayden, the team sits at 12-7 overall and 2-2 in league play heading into the Junction City event.
• RCPD: 2 additional men accused in connection with sex crime investigation (jcpost.com) — A recent multi-agency sex-crime sting involving the Junction City Police Department led to several arrests of suspects from Junction City and nearby communities, with no real children harmed during the operation. Authorities say the September operation in Riley and Geary counties targeted people allegedly buying sex or arranging to meet minors, and they're urging Junction City residents to report suspected trafficking through confidential hotlines.
• Cheapest midgrade gas in Geary County reach $4.13 in week ending Sept. 19 (littleappletimes.com) — If you're filling up in Junction City, recent GasBuddy reports show midgrade prices as low as $4.13 per gallon during the week ending September 19, compared with a $4.46 countywide average. The report breaks down how Junction City, Grandview Plaza, and Fort Riley stacked up, and explains how global oil markets and refinery issues are driving Kansas prices higher.
