A local roundup warns the metro could surpass 100 homicides this year, with spillover violence affecting neighboring communities.
• Kansas City sports legends Tom Watson, Eric Hosmer teach kids at golf clinic (kmbc.com) — Kansas City-area kids got one-on-one time with golf legend Tom Watson and former Royals star Eric Hosmer at a free skills clinic at Tiffany Greens Golf Club. About 60 children from local programs learned golf basics and life lessons, as part of the national Golf With Us initiative that already serves roughly 1,600 young people around Kansas City.
• Kansas City man's photography group turning cameras into creative community (kansascity.com) — A fast-growing photography meetup called Coffee and Cameras KC is drawing dozens of photographers to regular walks, talks, and workshops around Kansas City, building a free, welcoming space for creatives of all skill levels. Founded by local photographer Frank Pham, the group now meets at the Crossroads Hotel and other larger venues as it outgrows coffee shops. Participants say the gatherings offer both technical learning and much-needed social connection.
