Unified Government commissioners approved a combined $547.1 million city-county budget, trimmed some staffing and infrastructure plans, extended the storm emergency declaration, and advanced key items like library funding and downtown's special improvement district.

β€’ Suspect in violent Kansas City, Kansas, police struggle on parole for rape conviction (kmbc.com) β€” A Kansas City police officer and a suspect were injured after officers say the man fled a traffic stop, ran over an officer's foot, then later grabbed another officer's gun during a struggle. The suspect, on parole for a past rape conviction, was stabbed with a utility knife and struck with a baton before being subdued, and now faces new Wyandotte County charges and possible parole revocation.

Where to go until it reopens (kansascity.com) β€” If you rely on the Westport post office, your P.O. box services are temporarily shifting to Union Station and retail services are now handled at the Rosedale branch in Kansas City. USPS hasn't set a reopening date yet, but several other nearby locations, from Waldo to 18th and Vine, can also handle your mailing needs while repairs are completed.
