1. 2 more arrested in joint sex crimes operation (themercury.com) — Riley County authorities have announced two additional arrests tied to a recent multi-agency sex crimes sting that targeted suspected buyers of sex and people arranging to meet children. One suspect is a Manhattan resident arrested at Fort Riley, and another is from St. George. In total, the operation has led to 21 arrests across Manhattan, Junction City, and nearby communities, with the investigation still active.
2. Riley County Police report arrest in harassment and stalking case in Manhattan (littleappletimes.com) — Riley County Police report that a Council Grove man was arrested in Manhattan after a 19-year-old male victim reported harassment, intimidation, and stalking on September 27. Officers quickly identified and arrested the suspect, who has since been released on bond. Residents are urged to share tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers and can track police activity via the department's online crime mapping tools.
3. Manhattan's Best Tacos (citylifestyle.com) — Hungry for tacos in Manhattan? 4. Western Star Global Grain and Food Center Opens at K-State (millingandgrain.com) — Kansas State University in Manhattan has opened the Western Star Global Grain and Food Center, a major new hub uniting grain, food, and animal science programs under one roof. The 178,000-square-foot facility adds advanced labs, pilot plants, and collaboration spaces that will serve students, researchers, and industry partners. University leaders say it will strengthen Kansas agriculture and expand hands-on opportunities right here in town.
5. Multi-Vehicle Crash and Rescue on Highway K-18 Near Ogden (kclyradio.com) — Emergency crews from Riley County and the Manhattan Fire Department rescued a woman who jumped from a K-18 bridge near Ogden to avoid a crash and fell about 70 feet, suffering major injuries. She was first treated at Ascension Via Christi in Manhattan before being flown to Topeka, and is now reported to be recovering from multiple fractures with a fundraiser supporting her expenses.
