• Johnson County ice cream shop is closing one location, but has food truck plans (kansascity.com) — Overland Park residents who love The Golden Scoop should know the original Nall Avenue shop will serve its final scoops on October 31, with staff and equipment shifting to the nonprofit's food truck. The 103rd Street Overland Park location will stay open, while the organization expands school partnerships and mobile service so its uniquely abled employees can keep working and even gain more hours.
   

• After less than a year, Brew Haha Coffeehouse closes in Shawnee (johnsoncountypost.com) — Brew Haha Coffeehouse has closed its Shawnee shop after about eight months, but the owner says the Overland Park location remains healthy and will continue serving customers. Shawnee-area fans can still catch the mobile coffee trailer around the metro or make the short trip to Overland Park for their favorite drinks and treats.
   

• In rotation: 10/8/26 (thevinyldistrict.com) — A new Joe's Records shop is headed to Oak Park Mall in Overland Park, bringing another option for vinyl, CDs and rock apparel by spring 2027. The roundup also highlights record-store milestones and events in other cities, underscoring how strong the vinyl revival has become nationwide.
