AdventHealth South Overland Park Celebrates Five Years of Caring for a Growing Community (kcchamber.com) — AdventHealth South Overland Park is marking five years of serving southern Overland Park with expanded beds, new specialty services, and national safety recognitions. Residents are invited to celebrate at the hospital's family-friendly Apple Festival this Sunday, while learning about recent additions like the infusion clinic, larger Birth Center, and expanded ICU and progressive care units.
2. Truck Driver Dies as Flipped Semi Spills Cooking Oil Across I-35 in Olathe (newsbreak.com) — A fatal semi-truck rollover on northbound I-35 at 119th Street in Olathe shut the highway for nearly eight hours, snarling Johnson County traffic and affecting Overland Park commuters who rely on that corridor. The crash, which spilled cooking oil and killed a 25-year-old California driver, adds to a string of deadly single-vehicle wrecks along I-35 near Overland Park this year.
3. Richard William Delventhal (johnsoncountypost.com) — Longtime Overland Park resident Richard William Delventhal is remembered for his deep faith, dedication to Calvary Lutheran Church, and decades of service to family and community. Visitation and funeral services will be held Tuesday in Kansas City, with burial Wednesday in Sweet Springs, offering local friends and neighbors a chance to pay their respects.
4. David R. Voysey (johnsoncountypost.com) — Overland Park residents are remembering David R. Voysey, an 88-year-old retired Colgate Palmolive plant manager and longtime community member who passed away peacefully in Merriam. Known for his engineering career, creativity in woodworking and art, and involvement at Rolling Hills Church and Indian Hills Country Club, he leaves behind three children, many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
5. Russell Martin Shields (coffeyvillejournal.com) — Overland Park is where 70-year-old Russell Martin Shields passed away peacefully last month, surrounded by family after facing Fronto-Temporal Degeneration. Raised in St. John, he built a career in banking and later teaching, was deeply involved in community and church life, and will be remembered at an Oct. 17 memorial service in St. John, Kansas.
