• Tornadoes, Heavy Rain Strike Russell, Barton, Lincoln and Pawnee Counties (krsl.com) — Severe storms spun up multiple tornadoes across Russell County on Wednesday, including near Milberger, between Bunker Hill and Dorrance, north of Wilson Lake, and near Lucas, though no local damage has been reported yet. Heavy rain has triggered flash flood warnings for parts of Russell, Lincoln and Osborne counties through Thursday morning, so be alert for localized flooding and share any storm photos with the station.
   

• Paradise, Kansas Man Ethan Dickerson Dies in Two-Vehicle Crash With Semi on 180th Street in Russell County Monday Night (parktelegraph.com) — A man from nearby Paradise was killed Monday night when his pickup collided with a semi on 180th Street in rural Russell County, according to the sheriff's office. The crash happened after dark on a county road southwest of Paradise, and while investigators have released few details about the cause, they confirm the semi driver left the scene in a private vehicle as the case remains under investigation.
   

• Judy Lynn Novotny, 74 (hayspost.com) — Longtime Russell resident Judy Lynn Novotny, 74, who graduated from Russell High School and worked many years at Cashco, has passed away at Wheatland Nursing Center in Russell. Remembered for her kind heart, church involvement at Otterbein, and love of family, she will be honored at a graveside service on Friday, October 9, in Holyrood, with family greeting guests that day.
