'A great way to get introduced to aviation': EAA prepares for annual fly-in event (kwch.com) — Wichita families can head to Jabara Airport today for Chapter 88's Air Capital Fly-In, running 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with aircraft displays, simulators, vendors, and free Young Eagles flights for kids 8 to 17. Organizers are leaning into cold drinks, snow cones, and shaded hangar space to keep visitors safe and comfortable despite the lingering heat.
   

2. Roaches, flies, expired medications & more at Wichita KS restaurants, hotels (kansas.com) — Recent state inspections in the Wichita area found issues like roaches, fruit flies, temperature problems and expired medications at several locations, including Delux Inn, Dillons on North West Street, and multiple local restaurants. Most other Sedgwick County sites passed, but the report highlights which spots failed, when they'll be reinspected, and how residents can file complaints about food or lodging conditions.
   

3. 18-year-old arrested for DUI after crashing car into west Wichita home (kwch.com) — Wichita police say an 18-year-old driver crashed a car into a west Wichita home on North Seneca Saturday morning, leaving both him and a 17-year-old passenger initially in critical condition. The driver, now treated and released, was arrested on aggravated battery DUI and other traffic charges as investigators look at speed and alcohol as contributing factors.
   

4. Friends dominates Avila in home opener (ksn.com) — Friends University kicked off its home football schedule in Wichita with a dominant 61-10 win over Avila, powered by a deep, balanced rushing attack. Multiple Falcons backs topped 50 yards as the offense piled up 550 total yards and converted nearly every third down, giving local fans plenty to cheer about ahead of next week's trip to Bethel.
   

5. Kanna Next conference in Wichita highlights fight over future of hemp in Kansas (kwch.com) — In Wichita, hemp advocates and business owners used the Kanna Next conference to warn that upcoming federal and state crackdowns could devastate Kansas farmers and retailers. Local speakers argued that clearer regulation, not prohibition, is needed to protect hemp-derived products, support agriculture, and preserve promising business lines like THC-infused drinks across the region.
