1. All-Star Sports closes without notice. 'A lot is happening,' manager says (kansas.com) — The All-Star Sports complex in west Wichita has shut down temporarily without warning, forcing local schools and booster groups to scramble for new fall fundraiser locations. Management says "a lot is happening behind the scenes" and hopes to reopen soon, but has not given a date as ownership and lease issues are worked out.

2. Bleckley Drive residents push back against Wichita's $37M flood reduction project (kwch.com) — Neighbors along Bleckley Drive in east Wichita are organizing against a $37 million city drainage project they say will destroy mature trees, push temporary traffic lanes into their yards, and barely reduce flooding. City officials plan years of construction, including utility work and massive storm drains, while residents question the cost, disruption, and projected water-level improvements through 2029.

3. Wichita's Littlest Heroes to host inaugural golf tournament (ksn.com) — A Wichita nonprofit supporting families facing childhood illnesses is launching its first-ever golf tournament at Crestview Country Club on Oct. 26, with registration now open. Proceeds will fund financial help, family programs, and special experiences for local children, and residents can sign up as individuals, teams, or sponsors through the organization's website.

4. Teen arrested in Texas a year after Wichita shooting (ksn.com) — Wichita police say a teenage suspect wanted for a 2025 shooting that seriously injured two local teens has been arrested in Eagle Pass, Texas, on multiple felony warrants, including attempted murder. Investigators report the victims were shot while in a car near the Wichita Boathouse before driving to a nearby QuikTrip for help.
