• Man surrenders after barricade situation in northwest Wichita (kansas.com) — Neighbors in northwest Wichita may have noticed a heavy police presence Tuesday after a dispute between two brothers escalated into a brief barricade situation on North Amidon. Wichita police, working with Sedgwick County mental health responders, negotiated with one brother for about 20 minutes before he surrendered peacefully, and no injuries were reported.
• Wichita State touts record freshman class enrollment, numbers among international students decline (kwch.com) — Wichita residents connected to Wichita State will see a record-setting freshman class this fall, even as overall main-campus enrollment dips slightly. WSU Tech continues to grow, especially among adult learners, while international and graduate student numbers decline, raising questions about how the university and local employers will adapt to shifting enrollment trends.
• Wichita State women's basketball conference schedule set (ksn.com) — Shocker fans in Wichita can start planning now for women's basketball, with the full conference schedule set and home dates laid out from late December through early March. The team tips off public action at Charles Koch Arena on October 28 in an exhibition against Newman University, and season tickets are already available online or at the ticket office.
