This Week in Sedgwick County - August 4, 2021
Board of County Commissioners
- Commissioners proclaimed August 7, 2021 as Veterans Awareness Expo Day.
- A resolution was approved related to the issuance by the Governing Body of the City of Wichita of its Taxable Industrial Revenue Bonds to pay the costs of the acquisition, construction and equipping of improvements to an existing manufacturing facility leased to Air Capital Flightline, LLC and subleased to Spirit Aerosystems, Inc.
- Commissioners approved an agreement with the City of Wichita and submission of the grant application in the amount of $443,481 for Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Grant (JAG) Program.
- The second quarter Quarterly Financial Report was received and filed.
- The county is in sound financial condition.
- The financial position for the county is strong with tax revenue growth including retail sales and use tax, motor vehicle tax and property tax.
- Commissioners approved the recommendations from the Board of Bids and Contracts Regular Meeting on July 29, 2021.
- No binding action was taken following Executive Session.
Upcoming Events
- Residents are invited to attend the first public hearing regarding the 2022 Recommended Budget at 6 p.m. tomorrow, August 5 in the Commission Meeting Room. If residents can’t attend the meeting, comments may be left on the online public forum until 5 p.m., August 24.
- Back-to-school immunizations will be offered at no cost to children under 19 by Sedgwick County Health Department from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, August 7 at the community COVID-19 vaccine clinic, 223 S. Main. No appointment necessary.
