A Sedgwick County inmate who had history of a chronic medical issue, prior to incarceration when he was booked into Jail on July 16, 2021, was admitted to the hospital on August 4, 2021 for showing decreases in cognitive functions.
While in the hospital the inmate tested positive for COVID-19. On August 5, 2021 the 60 year old man, Lester L. Jacobs, was pronounced dead shortly before 12:00 PM. The preliminary cause of death is unknown pending an autopsy.
