          Councilwoman Nicole George (D-21) is thanking all the partners involved with the completion of the Phillips Lane Sidewalk Project.

          Councilwoman Nicole George (D-21) is thanking all the partners involved with the completion of the Phillips Lane Sidewalk Project.

          “I want to acknowledge the cooperation and patience of everyone who has supported this project since it first began in 2014,” said the Councilwoman. “Many people have expressed their concerns over public safety and the lack of sidewalks on Phillips Lane. Now, pedestrians can walk to the Expo Center without fear of fast-moving traffic.”

          In 2014, a group of neighbors supported by the Center for Neighborhoods undertook a walkability assessment of Phillips Lane. The neighbors identified issues impacting the pedestrian experience and set a list of priorities. While the project took several years to gain traction, in 2019 discussions resumed on how to ensure safety along Phillips Lane.

          The project was led by Public Work’s Steve Kurowsky to provide full connectivity along Phillips Ln from Preston to Crittenden. The project was made possible because partnership between Kentucky Exposition Center (KEC), Louisville Tourism, and Metro Council D21.
