Louisville Metro and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) are taking steps to minimize impacts to businesses during construction, including implementing the project in block-by-block phases and maintaining two-way traffic. The master plan for the East Market Streetscape was completed in 2011, in conjunction with the Downtown Connectivity Study commissioned by the Louisville Downtown Partnership. Funding for this project has been allocated by the Kentucky General Assembly, and the final design and engineering documents are complete. Construction is expected to begin in Spring 2022.

The second meeting will be a virtual public information session to showcase and discuss proposed reconfigurations, including two alternative designs, for the Jefferson/Brook Street off-ramp on I-65 Southbound. The virtual meeting will be held on Thursday, October 28, at 7 p.m.

The off-ramp and its corresponding intersections have one of the highest vehicular crash rates in Louisville. Louisville Metro and KYTC are partnering with the Federal Highways Administration to reconfigure the area to create a safer street for all users. Proposed improvements include relocation of the ramp and the conversion of Jefferson Street from one-way to two-way.
