Louisville – Louisville Metro Council Committee meetings will have a virtual option for members and staff who are concerned about the rising of the Delta Variant of COVID 19 among those who are not vaccinated.

Beginning Wednesday, Council Committees will meet in Council Chambers as part of the regular schedule and those on attendance must wear a mask. There is also a new WebEx option for those members who wish to remote their location pursuant to KRS 61.826 and SB 150.

“I want to stress, we are taking this action for safety reasons,” says President David James (D-6). “City Hall is still open to the public and we hope anyone who wants to attend these meetings in person will wear a mask as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and the Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness.”

At the beginning of the COVID 19 outbreak, the Metro Council was able to carry on its business through WebEx meetings while the building was closed to the public.

The Council returned to its regular business operations on July 19th. However, concerns over the Delta Variant of COVID 19 have led the new changes because some members who are fully vaccinated do not wish to wear masks during meetings.
