“I am encouraged that the community wants to join us in our effort to help LMPD make our communities safer. This walk comes after we have heard complaints in an area of Portland that has been a problem with drugs and break-ins,” says Purvis.

All in the community are invited to come out to the corner of 22nd and Rowan where the Councilwoman will meet with LMPD officers at 6:00pm. The walk will begin from there.

These walks are a way of meeting the LMPD officers who patrol the streets and neighborhoods of the District. Community volunteers will also be on hand to talk about crime prevention and other ways to become active in fighting crime.

“If you want to make your neighborhood safer, then I ask you to come out and join us. Get to know the people of this area and help us help you fight crime,” says Purvis.
