The group has conducted walking assessments to gauge mobility needs, connect with and educated business owners, and explore commercial opportunities. The group seeks to capitalized on its central location and proximity to the Kentucky Exposition Center and the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport. The group recently hired the Louisville Independent Business Alliance to assist with surveys for area businesses and residents. The goal of the survey is to better understand the perspective of business owners and perceived opportunities of residents and corridor users.
“Preston Hwy is an essential route for transportation, diverse businesses, unique neighborhoods, and tourism,” said Councilwoman Nicole George. “This is why it is important to bring businesses, residents, and users together to contribute to the overall health and promotion of Preston. We need everyone’s input and support to reimagine the future of Preston Hwy.”

“I have lived directly off or near Preston Highway my entire life,” said Councilman Pat Mulvihill. “We have a great opportunity to reenvision the Preston Highway Corridor and how it can be used to meet the needs of businesses, residents, and visitors. So, please take the survey and let’s build a Preston Highway Corridor that we want and can enjoy using.”
“LIBA is happy to be working with the partnership,” said Jennifer Rubenstein, Executive Director of the Louisville Independent Business Alliance (LIBA). “Our strength has always been grassroots movements, and this is a continuation of our work to hear from our communities and help neighborhoods realize their potential.”
The business survey asks about connections to community, assets, barriers, resources and ideas. It can be found at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/22V3NYM (deadline for business survey is August 28).
The resident/user survey asks about corridor assets, and what other business categories would prosper on Preston. It can be found at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ProsperPreston.
The first 50 respondents to each survey will also receive a voucher for a free cup of coffee from Heine Brothers’ Coffee, proud Schnitzelburg business, located near the intersection of S Preston St and Eastern Pkwy.
