For weeks now, the Councilwoman has been working with one of Louisville’s Sister Cities in Jiujiang, China, to secure the needed Personal Protective Equipment. Partnering with the Chinese government and local Chinese Americans, she was able secure the first of several promised donations. Among the requested PPE items are face shields, gowns, gloves and masks.
In the last few weeks, ACAK (Association of Chinese Americans in Kentuckiana) and the Kentuckiana Chinese School took the lead to raise funds from the local Chinese community to help in the COVID-19 crisis. Those funds purchased medical masks for general use and for a donation to the police and public service personnel.
Joining the Councilwoman in bring in the donations to the city were Zhong Liu, the Vice President of the Association of Chinese Americans in Kentuckiana (ACAK) and Guoxiang Li (an ACAK Board member), and Marty Storch pictured below. Special thanks to Kelly Jones and Teresa Lajara of Louisville Metro and Weiling Lu, President of the Association of Chinese Americans and Wei-Bin Zeng of the University of Louisville as our liaison.
“The people of Louisville Metro say a very big thank you for this partnership,” said Councilwoman Dorsey. “At a time of crisis, we all come together to show the compassion needed to help everyone.”
