Louisville Trail Construction Closes Scott's Gap Section To Hiking Through May

Because of new trail construction, the Scott's Gap section of Jefferson Memorial Forest will be closed to hiking during the month of May.

May 5, 2020

Because of new trail construction, the Scott's Gap section of Jefferson Memorial Forest will be closed to hiking during the month of May. The parking area will host construction equipment as construction is ongoing, and parking along Scott's Gap Road is prohibited until the project is complete.
The new portion of the trail will consist of approximately 1/2 mile of compacted accessible gravel through a native grass meadow and open woods. Construction is expected to take four weeks.
The trail project is funded by Councilwoman Cindi Fowler, D-14. The work will also include construction of a wetland boardwalk, a scenic overlook and improved parking.
All other JMF trails will be open during the work. Please continue to practice safe social distancing while hiking. For a full list of trails at Jefferson Memorial Forest, please click here.
