Louisville – School students in District 6 will get a special present this year when President David James (D-6) hosts the Holiday Coat Giveaway on Friday, December 13th.

“With the help of dedicated teachers in our district, we are giving winter coats to students in need to keep them warm and healthy so they can achieve great things at school,” says James. “This is the time of year we are reminded to help others and some great local sponsors are partnering with me to make it happen.”

On Friday, December 13th, President and Mrs. Michelle James will be distributing coats at First Gethsemane Center for Family Development, 1221 First Gethsemane Avenue. The Holiday Coat Giveaway will be a fun night featuring music, refreshments, arts and crafts, and a photo booth with Santa Claus. The fun begins at 6:00 p.m.

The students who have the greatest need were identified through Jefferson County Public School Teachers and Resource Counselors.

The giveaway was made possible with very generous sponsors who have helped at many seasonal District 6 events this year.

Joining President and Mrs. James in sponsoring this 8th Annual event are Kosair Charities, The Galt House, Craig & Landreth, Tom and Nancy Woodcock, Play A Role Fund, Coca- Cola, 7NT Engineering, Kohl’s, UAW Local 862, First Gethsemane Baptist Church, Walmart, NTC and Brown Forman.

“I want to thank all the sponsors who understand the needs of our children and are making it a nice holiday for those in need,” says James.
