Film buffs, rejoice! We’re kicking off our monthly movie club (building off our 2020 program, Book to the Future) and what better time to start than October? This month’s picks are in the horror realm, one of our most popular genres. Join us at 7pm Thursday, October 21st to discuss these picks, as well as hear more about other new and popular DVDs in our collection. Have you watched something great lately? Horror Noire: A History of Black Horror (2019)

Via Shudder: Delving into a century of genre films that by turns utilized, caricatured, exploited, sidelined, and finally embraced them, Horror Noire traces the untold history of Black Americans in Hollywood through their connection to the horror genre. Adapting Robin Means Coleman’s seminal book, HORROR NOIRE will present the living and the dead, using new and archival interviews from scholars and creators; the voices who survived the genre’s past trends, to those shaping its future.
