LSU Museum of Art to open Southern Gothic exhibition this fall (wbrz.com) — Baton Rouge art lovers can look forward to a major new exhibition at the LSU Museum of Art, "Southern Gothic: Literary Intersections with Art from The Johnson Collection," running Oct. 1 through Jan. 3, 2027. The show blends Southern art and literature, expands the original Spartanburg-based exhibit with Louisiana works, and highlights the region's complex history and culture through evocative paintings, prints, and sculpture.
   

2. East Baton Rouge DA opens investigation into alleged sexual assault involving LSU students (cenlanow.com) — East Baton Rouge's district attorney has opened a criminal investigation into an alleged sexual assault involving an LSU student-athlete and another student on the Baton Rouge campus. Authorities are gathering reports and evidence from LSU Police and Baton Rouge Police, while LSU says it previously completed its Title IX process and now pledges full cooperation with law enforcement.
   

3. EBR mayor-president proposes AI cameras, higher fines for blight and illegal dumping (wafb.com) — East Baton Rouge's mayor-president is pushing AI-equipped cameras and sharply higher fines to crack down on blight and illegal dumping in Baton Rouge neighborhoods. The plan includes cameras at known dump sites, AI cameras on city-parish vehicles, and first-offense fines up to $500–$1,000, with proposals heading to the Metro Council and a key vote set for October 14.
   

4. I-TEAM: Video shows trooper kicking man during arrest after chase (wafb.com) — In Baton Rouge, a WAFB I-TEAM investigation reveals a Louisiana State Police trooper kicked a suspect in the head after a 2022 chase, yet ultimately avoided criminal charges and had his discipline overturned. The report details multiple prior use-of-force reviews, questions about accountability, and how the agency's Early Intervention System is framed as a wellness tool rather than a disciplinary measure.
   

5. Ole Miss-Florida, Lsu-Texas A&M, Usc-Oregon: Headline Matchups for Top 25 Teams on Sept. 26 (ntd.com) — This weekend's college football slate brings No. 10 LSU back home to Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge for a key matchup against No. 23 Texas A&M on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The game, airing on ESPN, is a chance for the Tigers to rebound in both the SEC race and the national rankings after a tough conference loss.
