• 11-year-old calls 911 to help mother, siblings (websterparishjournal.com) — A Homer man was arrested after deputies say he repeatedly beat a woman in front of three children, including an 11-year-old who bravely called 911 and tried to intervene. Authorities say the suspect also had an active DCFS warrant from Claiborne Parish, and he now faces multiple domestic abuse and child endangerment charges while presumed innocent until proven guilty.
