• Beauregard Parish residents without trash cans as new contractor takes over (kplctv.com) — Beauregard Parish residents, including those just inside the DeRidder city limits, are finding their trash cans removed as the parish switches from Waste Connections to Waste Pro. New bins won’t arrive until mid-October, so crews are hand-collecting garbage, and officials urge anyone whose personal can was mistakenly taken or whose property was entered to contact the Sheriff’s Office. 
• DeRidder man accused of impersonating police officer after business disturbance (cenlanow.com) — DeRidder police arrested a 71-year-old man after they say he blocked a woman’s vehicle during a dispute at a local business and showed a police badge despite having no law enforcement authority. He faces a felony charge of false personation of a peace officer and was booked into Beauregard Parish Jail, with all charges still to be proven in court.
• OCC Grants Clean Bill of Health to 13 Banks in Latest Community Lending Audit (pymnts.com) — A DeRidder-based institution, Beauregard FSB, earned a “satisfactory” rating in the latest federal Community Reinvestment Act review, which evaluates how well banks serve local credit needs. The report, covering banks nationwide, found no institutions in substantial noncompliance and highlights that Beauregard FSB is meeting regulators’ expectations for lending in its community.
