1. 43-year-old struck, killed in single-vehicle crash in Houma (houmatoday.com) — A 43-year-old Gray resident was killed while walking along LA 3040 near Westside Boulevard in Houma when a Nissan Pathfinder struck him before dawn on Sept. 20. State Police and the Terrebonne Parish Coroner's Office are investigating, and authorities say the driver showed no signs of impairment but toxicology tests are pending for the pedestrian.
2. Terrebonne Sheriff's Office arrests 2 more teens in Evergreen incident (modbee.com) — Houma parents are learning that two more teenagers have been arrested after an earlier incident where a 13-year-old allegedly brought a loaded handgun to Evergreen Junior High School and made threats. Investigators say new information and social media posts led to terrorizing charges against a 13-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy, as deputies work to address ongoing safety concerns.
3. Crews respond to three-alarm housefire in Houma (wgno.com) — Firefighters in Houma rushed to a three-alarm blaze on Clairmont Lane early Monday morning after a passerby spotted flames and alerted the family inside. The fire spread from the backyard to the attic and living area before crews contained it, and responders even managed to rescue the family's cat during their search.
4. FAA Advances eVTOL and Drone Integration With First Remotely Piloted Flight and Expanded BEYOND Program (reedsmith.com) — A new federal drone test at Houma-Terrebonne Airport is helping shape how cargo-carrying eVTOL aircraft and drones will eventually operate across the country. Elroy Air and Louisiana transportation officials flew an automated cargo aircraft here, feeding data into an FAA program that's expanding nationwide to build rules for safe, large-scale drone and advanced air mobility use.
