(nola.com) — Kenner is now home to the Pelicans' G League affiliate, the Laketown Squadron, which recently held open tryouts at Tulane's Hertz Center as part of its relocation from Birmingham. A Times-Picayune reporter joined dozens of hopefuls chasing a pro basketball dream, offering an inside look at the competition, pace, and slim odds of landing one of a few training camp spots.
   

• Lengthy prison sentences handed down in Adan Manzano death (wwltv.com) — Two defendants received decades-long prison sentences in connection with the death of visiting journalist Adan Manzano, who was found in a Kenner hotel room in 2025. A Jefferson Parish jury convicted them of racketeering, and one of negligent homicide, after prosecutors described a scheme targeting New Orleans-area tourists with drugs and robbery, while the defense signaled plans to appeal.
