• JPSO arrests mother of man charged in $1M+ Metairie steroid bust (fox8live.com) — Authorities say more than $1 million in suspected illegal steroids and other drugs were seized from a Metairie home, leading to charges against resident Anthony Caruso and the arrest of his mother. Jefferson Parish deputies describe the operation as one of their largest steroid-related busts, with alleged counterfeit weight-loss drugs, ghost guns, and possible nationwide distribution under federal review.
   

• Jefferson Parish DA charges former music teacher accused of sexual battery of a 14-year-old (nola.com) — A Metairie resident and former Jefferson Parish music teacher has been formally charged with one count of sexual battery in a case involving a then-14-year-old boy, following an earlier arrest and separate conviction in St. Charles Parish. Prosecutors filed the Jefferson Parish charge more than three years after his arrest, and he is currently free on bond while awaiting arraignment next month.
   

• A State Gave Sheriffs 20% of Its Opioid Settlement Cash. We Followed the Money. (kffhealthnews.org) — Jefferson Parish residents, including a grandfather from Metairie raising his granddaughter after his son's overdose, are questioning how sheriffs statewide are spending millions in opioid settlement dollars. A multi-newsroom investigation found much of the money going to law enforcement gear instead of treatment and prevention, while Jefferson Parish's sheriff has not disclosed detailed spending despite receiving one of the largest allocations.
