• Former 1930s grocery store becomes early learning academy in Lower 9th Ward (wdsu.com) — A long-vacant 1930s grocery store in New Orleans' Lower 9th Ward has been reborn as Shiloh Gardens Academy Holy Cross, an early learning center for 50 children. The owner hopes the new childcare option will ease long waiting lists and help revitalize a neighborhood still recovering from Hurricane Katrina.
   

• New Orleans man sentenced for sexually exploiting children (wgno.com) — A New Orleans man has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison plus supervised release and restitution for sexually exploiting multiple children he contacted through a messaging app. Federal officials in New Orleans say the case should warn others who attempt to coerce minors online that they will be aggressively prosecuted.
