New Orleans jail escapee trial delayed after defendant appears without lawyer (wwltv.com) — A key trial tied to the 2025 Orleans Parish jail escape has been delayed again after defendant Dkenan Dennis appeared in a New Orleans courtroom without a lawyer. With his previous attorney suspended by the state Supreme Court, Dennis now has until a Sept. 30 status hearing to secure new private counsel as the aggravated escape case continues to drag on.
2. New Orleans to auction 140 vacant Katrina-era properties with new option for urban farms, green space (fox8live.com) — New Orleans is auctioning 140 Katrina-era residential lots on Sept. 30, giving buyers a chance to build homes or create community green spaces, including urban farms. Bidding starts at $4,000 per lot, with clear titles and NORA support for green-space permitting. A buyer seminar at the Dryades YMCA explains how locals can participate.
3. A Cocktail for Townie Summer (provincetownindependent.org) — New Orleans readers get a locally flavored cocktail story tied to Tennessee Williams and a new production by the Tennessee Williams Theatre Company of New Orleans. 4.
