• Shreveport police offer bonuses to address officer shortage (ksla.com) — Shreveport residents should know their police department is offering sizable bonuses to attract both experienced officers and new recruits as it struggles with smaller academy classes. Lateral hires can receive a $10,000 sign-on bonus, while new recruits get $7,200 plus paid academy training and equipment. Officials also hope to improve public perceptions of policing to boost interest in the career.
   

• Remembering Garland Lane Giddings (shreveportbossierjournal.com) — A longtime Fairview Alpha resident who was born in Shreveport is being remembered for his love of cars, storytelling, and Sunday family visits. Friends and family can pay respects at Creston Church, with visitation Wednesday evening and funeral services Thursday afternoon, followed by burial at Bethany Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family asks that memorial donations go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
